Thursday June 23rd

Mel, Rox, Sherry & I met up at GRSC again this week. Roxanne won her division with a BEAUTIFUL run on Tina. Sherry also had a great run on Cali and took home 2nd. My run was much faster than last week, but we hit a barrel. Next time!! Mel had a great time visiting with everyone and kept an eye on Allie, Tina’s biggest little fan.

In the year since Melanie’s accident, her injury level has been reclassified as a C6 because of her sensation level, but her motor levels are still at a C4. She continues a rigorous therapy schedule four days a week and her parents, aunts/uncles and friends take turns taking her to therapy. She’s made incredible progress and appreciates EVERYONE who takes part to help her recover.

Mel showed up to GRSC last night with her Mom and Sherry. Mel got to visit with lots of her horsey friends who were very happy to see her and how well she is doing. Mel’s horse, Tina ran with Mel’s Mom in the Senior Division and with me in the Open. After taking hiatus from riding for the past 2.5 years and only riding Tina once a few days before the first GRSC show, my legs were in no mood to deal with that powerhouse mare. She’s fast and super fun to ride but she is all business and wants you to let her go. Next week maybe I’ll be able to hang on and look less like a monkey strapped to a rocket.

Mel has only about $1,000 more to raise for her therapy saddle. If you would like to contribute to help get Mel back in the saddle, please click our Chipin widget.

Letter from Melanie's Family:

To our dearest friends, family, and wonderful supporters for Melanie

Words cannot explain the gratitude of all your love, prayers, gifts, and support for our precious Melanie in her healing process.  Each day we see improvement with her neck, and arms and watch as the Lord gives her strength to move forward.  She is working so hard in PT and is determined to move those wrists and fingers soon!  Her therapists are amazing and make her laugh a lot and they push her to the max (wheel chair polebending in 29 seconds).
Each day is a new day and with Melanie’s determination and faith and support from all of you, she will overcome this injury and be with her horses soon.

From the bottom of our hearts, Thank You
Love, Roxanne, Chris & Torry
